When we used our last cleaning tablet for our Jura Capresso maker, we logged onto Amazon to find more tablets. We ordered it on May 12th; the order shipped on the 13th and we received it on the 15th of May. We couldn't have asked for anything better as far as timing on the order. We are now stocked with cleaning tablets that work perfectly with our perfect capresso maker!!

These do a great job cleaning my F9. They even dissolve a good portion of the coffee sludge that sticks to the drip pan. Make sure you use these in your J.C. superautomatic!

"Beats waxing on your hands and knees" 2009-02-20
By K-ann
I have old hardwood floors that will eventually be refinished. In the mean time, paste wax protects and keeps them looking nice. I use the machine to put the paste wax on and then change to a buffing pad and buff the dried wax. The only complaint that I might mention is the pads sometimes come off and fly across the room. It's a little frustration compared to how difficult it would be to wax an entire house on my hands and knees.

 "Floor polisher by Koblenz" 2008-05-12
By N. janus (Fishkill NY USA)
I must admit, that with today's carefree floors, few need a floor polisher any more, but I have hardwood floors and my wife likes them clean, waxed and shiny. This product does it all, and without a whimper, the motor is quiet and strong enough and the unit is very light to move around or to carry, so I am one heck of a satisfied customer.

 "Great Cleaner" 2009-12-30
By Susan (PA)
I like the Haan for use on ceramic tile and vinyl. I found it a bit dulling on marble, but it is time to reseal that particular floor. The only thing that it does not do well is grout, particularly white grout. I'd need a pad with a bit more "tooth" to get down into the grout area. It cleans it somewhat, but mine is a kitchen floor and gets a lot of traffic. I steam once per week (household of two adults who wear no shoes in the house). I hope Haan will come out with a fluffier pad to address this problem. This is a great value for the price, easy to use and very light. Caution: the pad is very hot immediately after use.

"You are going to LOVE it!!" 2009-12-27
By Margo (SRQ, FL)
First off, i'd like to tell you a little about myself so that you can understand my view when writing this review: I am the type of person that has to do all the cleaning myself because I want it done a certain way, and no other way will do because it has to be just "perfect". Luckily, my husband was willing to learn "my way" and he does it that way and I don't have to worry about it. I am VERY picky about my cleaning. I used a lot of bleach for disinfecting and used to buy bleach by the gallons at Sam's Club because not only would I bleach my bathrooms, countertops, etc, but I would fill a mop bucket with bleach water and bleach my tile floors. When I clean, it's CLEAN. However, about 9 months ago I discovered "steam", and I thought, well, it's still killing germs, etc, etc, but, and i'm not using all of that bleach on the floors. Cause, let's face it, even though I would mop with the bleach water and do two buckets of clean water to rinse the floor, there's still going to be residue from the cleaner - bottom line.

So, as I said, I discovered the Steam mop. Went to the store, bought the Shark. My 88 year old Grandma was with me that day, she too bought the Shark. Ok, let me just say, I LOVED the concept of using the steam on the floor instead of mopping and using all of that bleach. WAS NOT happy with the pumping and pumping and pumping and pumping and pumping you have to do to get it to produce the steam. What a pain in the @## that is. Turns out, it's way more of a workout than mopping. You are sweating up a storm by the time you are done. It was getting my floors clean, it was, however the effort it took to get them there was more that I was willing to do. In the meantime, my mother became curious about steam cleaning as well, because, quite frankly, she too was tired of the mop and bucket. I figured there had to be a better option than this pumping my @## off stuff, so I started looking online and at first had picked out another brand of a "continuous steam" type steamer. I figured, ok, let me go to the local Vaccuum Store in town and see if they carry it. They did not carry that particular brand I was looking to purchase, however, they did carry the HAAN. Of course, I had never heard of this brand before, but they swore that it was much better than that other brand I was mentioning and assured me I would like it. So, on a whim, I bought the original Haan FS-20 (the yellow and white one). That was earlier this year. Let me tell you, I have not picked up a mop and bucket since like April of this year. It is such a pleasure to mop (if i can even call it mopping) the floors now. My tile floors are clean, and I mean, residue-free clean. I know it's killing the germs, etc, and it is so easy, literally a child, or husband :) could do this. I am serious. You just simply fill the tank of the boiler, and it boils the water to produce the steam. The floors are so clean and residue free, that if you are wearing nice clean socks, you're liable to slide on the tile. Well, my mother became jealous of this NEW steamer because when I got the original HAAN, I had given her my Shark to use. And although she loved the concept as I did, the pumping was a pain for her as well. NOW, she wants what I got. Let me tell you, I tell EVERYONE about my steam mop. Matter of fact, I've gotten about 4 ladies at work steaming their floors now. One lady says, oh, I get down on my hands and knees". I'm like, FORGET THAT! Get a HAAN. And she did. I got people steamin' all over the place. ahahha. OK~ SO~ Fastforward~

I saw that they came out with this new "SLim and Light" contraption. HMMMMM, that looks really, really nice. I wonder how it works? well, I read and read and read reviews. NOW, I want one of THESE!!! (I still love my original Haan FS-20, but this looks even BETTER!!) Let me just say, these people that give this new Slim and Light a bad rap because it didn't make their 30 year old warn out linoleum look brand new, or pick up all of their kids leftover food on the floor, or didn't pick up a clump of dried stuck-on something that had been there for two weeks, COME ON PEOPLE!!! There are limitations to everything. First of all, IT IS NOT A VACCUUM, nor does it ever claim to be. YES, you do have to vaccuum first. Coming from a person that has two labrador retrievers, you must vaccuum. And you should anyway. It steam cleans, it does not pick up a pile of cheerios or doggie hair tumbleweeds. VACCUUM FIRST!!! Also, yes, steaming times on one tank of water will vary, depending on how fast or slow you push the steamer. Some people say, oh, one tank only lasted me through doing the kitchen, well, if you go really slow, like i do to make sure i'm getting it real good, yes, you will have to refill by the time you get to the dining room. Some people move the steamer around faster, covering more area quickly, and get all of their floors done on the one tank. That's fine too. I am just a little unclear on how fast to actually move the steamer over a certain area in order for it to be cleaning effectively, so, I go slower and refill the tank more often. Whatever, doesn't matter really.

I decided to get my Mother and Grandmother one for Christmas this year. By this time, both Mom and Grandma had stopped using their Shark and had gone back to mopping at this point. I did order them the new Slim and Light for Christmas this year. I was so excited to give this to them, I could not wait. I COULD NOT WAIT to bust it out of the box and try it for myself, just could not wait. Also, I just had to try this new mop because another lady at work wants to go to steam cleaning and wants to buy the HAAN, but, wasn't sure if she wanted the original HAAN like I had, or if she would like the new S & L better. SO, i suggested to her...... let Mom and Grandma open theirs on Christmas, I'll use it and let you know which one I like better between the two, because after all, at this point, I had only read reviews and seen pictures of it on the web. She thought that was a good idea. So she was waiting with baited breath to find out which one she was going to buy!! WOW, is this NICE!!! Ok, so, now, how do I tell my husband I want the new S & L without him getting mad? hmmm, i'm going to have to work on that because I have GOT TO get me one of these. Mom loves it. She has steamed her floors every day since Christmas.

Ok.........

PROS:

~Light.

~Cute

~Tank pops off the back and you can just refill and go

~The long handle and the shape of the handle make it really easy to use, no bending over.

~Head is very low profile and will go under (but not completely under, mind you) the stove, cabinets, fridge, etc. (depending on the height of your appliances)

~Pads are re-washable. Take them off, throw them in the wash with your clothes, throw them in the dryer with your clothes.

~Super easy to push, NO PUMPING REQUIRED.

~You are not sweating up a storm when you are finished.

~You know your floors are getting clean, truly clean without any chemical residue

~It WILL remove some stains or stuck on stuff (IF) you hold it over the spot for about 10 seconds or so.

~It comes with the carpet tray attachment so you can freshen your carpet, couch, bedding, mattress, dog bed, etc). IT IS NOT STANLEY STEAMER!!! NOR DOES IT CLAIM TO BE! It WILL NOT steam clean your carpets like Stanley Steamer. There is a difference. However, it will help loosen a stain so that it can be cleaned out of the carpet, and it will take the smell out from a pet accident, etc. It freshens because it is killing mold, dust mites, bacteria, etc.

~Husbands and children can use!! Can we say BONUS!!!

CONS:

~Cord is a little shorter than the Shark, BUT, that is peanuts compared to the ease and positive benefits. No big deal.

NOTES:

~What's the difference between the FS-20 and the new S & L? Well, the FS-20 works on a boiler system, basically you fill the tank, it boils the water to produce continuous steam. The S & L uses an internal pump. You WILL hear a slight fluttering noise as the mop is pumping the steam out for you. This is normal. (I have actually found that the steam comes out more vigorously on the new S & L than mine because it is being pumped out).

~Wear shoes or at least socks when steaming the floors. You may not think that it is steaming all that much, but let me tell you, if you get it too close to your foot, and it burns the skin in between your toes, you'll know it!! (obviously a personal experience).

~Don't be a cheap @##. Buy distilled water to use in the machine. It will keep it from getting all crusty and crudded up with mineral deposits like your coffee pot does. I use only distilled water. The machine will last longer this way and the steam jets won't get clogged.

~Take the pad off the unit and throw it in the wash or at least the hamper when you are done steaming. If you let it sit on the unit after you've used it and store it that way, the pad can get musty smelling.

~My advise, buy 2 extra pads. You can never have enough.

~If you've been steaming for a while and the pad starts to get saturated, just put a new pad on. This will avoid the complaining of streaking on the floors as some people state.

 "Literally SQEAKY clean!" 2009-12-19
By Ladybug (Omaha, NE)
I LOVE my Haan steam mop! It seems to be of very high quality. Surprisingly, the cord is heavier than my Dyson vacuum, or any other appliance of this type. The pads are nice & thick and are sure to hold up well.

I was most impressed when I cleaned one of my vinyl bathroom floors. It's had a deep stain on it since it was installed. I'd tried Clorox Clean-up and every other product I thought might work, to no avail. With just ONE short use, most of the stain is gone! I'm sure a second cleaning will remove it entirely.

You still have to sweep the floor as the Haan steams, and doesn't pick up debris.

It heats up in just 30 seconds (rather than the 3 minutes they say) and comes with pad to place under it while it's heating. One very little tank of water did my kitchen, both bathroom floors and my tiled entryway, with some left over. So buying distilled water won't be much of an expense. However, my rooms are very small.

I'm anxious to use it on my braided and oriental type rugs, which haven't been cleaned as I was afraid a shampooer would ruin them.

I'm 66 years old and found the Haan to be very light weight (at 4lbs) and easy to use.

Haven't found any Cons, so far.

I certainly wouldn't hesitate to purchase this again.

UPDATE:

I tried my Hann Steam Mop on my area rugs last evening. They came out cleaner than I imagined they would and I was very impressed. Especially on an area of my regular carpeting where the dirt was very ground in AND one of my puppies had an 'accident'. I tried everything to get the smell up.....several natural enzyme products, Febreeze, Spot Shot etc, and had even shampooed the carpeting several times. Now, The smell is GONE, after one use with the Haan.

Unlike using the Haan on hard flooring, when you're steaming rugs or carpeting, you will want to go very, very slowly and go over the area a few times.

This is one of the best purchases I have made in many a year!

 "Sweet sweeper" 2009-12-08
By T. Hurst (Austin, TX United States)
We have laminate (faux wood) floors that have been difficult to keep clean. Plus, neither of us enjoy mopping.

The floor sanitizer/steamer has been just the solution for us. We vacuum first, then run the steamer over the floors and poof! All of the footprints and water stains are gone. It doesn't get the toughest of stains up, but it gets 90% of them and makes the remaining ones much easier to scrub.

The greatest thing is that it requires no effort ... no scrubbing or pressure like you have to apply with a regular mop. Just glide it over the floor surface and it does all the work!

If you have more than 2 rooms, I recommend getting some extra microfiber pads ... once they get wet they don't dry the floor as readily and you start to see water streaks. I use about 1 pad per large room, then switch out to a dry one. They clean up nicely in the washing machine.

Highly recommend!

By Kate (Cincinnati Oh)
Well First let me say, that shipping was really fast! Putting the Haan together was easy, filling it with water was easy. Not much to it. I like it better than some of the other models. Heats up fast! It can glide under my counter tops with ease. I love love love that I am not using any cleaning products. I love that the floor does not have that sticky feeling like after you mop sometimes, and then you have to go back over it with water. In fact I told my husband that The floor is Squeaky clean. My kids bathroom is tile, and I have two boys and two girls, let me just say Boys are hard on bathrooms! I feel like when I steam clean the floor in the bathroom, I really am disinfecting it! I do it every other day or so. I am teaching my Eight yr old how to do it so that It becomes his job to clean the bathroom floor! Its that easy.

Why four stars instead of five. Well in the commercial They make it look like it can clean up any mess. Any thing stuck on the floor. Truth be told some of the more stuck on stuff It just can't get. I have to kinda go before it with a rag and get the really hard stuff. And a lot of times I have to keep going over a spot. That being said. I love not bending over a mop bucket, and I really like the hot steam disinfecting my floor. I would buy one again in a heartbeat!

Giving one to my mom for Christmas!!!

"Great for light, regular kitchen floor cleaning" 2010-01-21
By B. Edwards
I've been searching for the Holy Grail of kitchen floor cleaners, and gone through a bevy of moppers and sweepers, from an actual mop and pail, to stick vacuum cleaners, to all in one units (sweep and mop) to the Bissell type hard floor cleaners.

After buying wayyyyy too many of these appliances (I think I might have a problem), I think I have found the perfect system, and it includes this steam mop (not necessarily THIS model, but this is the one I chose). More on that later, and on to this specific steam mop.

Overall, this is an average to good unit. Does what it says, and is not too expensive. I wanted to try a steam mop after recently giving up on my Bissell hard floor cleaner (the rolling brush kind that sound like a jet engine when you start them up, and surprisingly do almost nothing in terms of cleaning - don't think they even make those any more...no wonder)

PROS:

- HOT. Heats to 212º, some other steam mops I looked at were in the low hundreds! (credit to the steam mop review queen for showing the temps that each steam mop achieved!)

- CHEAP. I paid around $80 after cashback, and included the carpet attachment and two pads.

- CARPET ATTACHMENT. LOVE this. Use it all the time, and it really works well. The primary reason I bought this Haan over the Eureka.

- EASY. Ease of use so important for regular cleaning. The Bissell (hard floor cleaner, not steam mop) I used before was so heavy and a pain to "set up" that I didn't "mop" as often as I should have. This Haan is sooo simple and lightweight, you can pull it out any time and be up and running VERY quickly. I think this is the best feature of steam mops versus other mopping solutions.

- CLEANS/SANITIZES. Unlike the Shark, and a couple of others, which has a very low steam temp (around 100º less than this Haan), you don't have to go so slow in order to really sanitize, that it takes you 4 hours to do a small kitchen.

CONS:

- HEAD DOESN'T SWIVEL. Would be nice if the head was able to get in small nooks and crannies better, but it doesn't. This is one of those "nice to haves" things, but definitely not a deal breaker

- DOESN'T STAND UP ON ITS OWN. This COULD be a problem with my particular unit, since I have not read others posting about it. But it seems the very cheap mechanism they used to kind of "catch" the long handle when you want to just leave it standing upright, does not work, and often falls down (slams down) and drives me crazy. So I pretty much have to lean it against the wall any time I want to refill, or stop and move something. Much more annoying that it seems like it would be.

- CHEAP CONSTRUCTION. Not planning to use this as a battering ram, so I don't foresee a lot of damage, but this is made very cheaply. On the other hand, they were likely trying to design to be lightweight as well, so hard to say here. You could probably make it better, and still be light, but I bet would cost 30% more as well. I'm actually ok with the cheap feel as long as it doesn't break in a year or two.

- NO CLEAN SMELL AFTER MOPPING. Since you can't/shouldn't use cleaning solution with this, which is generally scented, you definitely won't take a whiff after cleaning your kitchen and say "AHHHHH". This is actually something that my previous Bissell hard floor cleaner was GREAT at (or at least their cleaning solution). It used an excellent liquid that got the scent JUST right in my opinion...not at all overwhelming, but a very clean scent. Very subtle in fact, but there (not perfumy at all). This is just something you adjust to I guess, knowing that you don't NEED those chemicals with one of these bad boys.

If given the option, I would probably give this 3.5 stars, because I am happy with it, and it's probably slightly above the average steam mop, mostly because of the temps it reaches. Would definitely re-buy this, as well as recommend to friends. If I had not wanted a carpet attachment (great for area rugs!), I would have bought the Eureka EnviroSteamer. As it is, very happy with this purchase.

By B. Meyers (Seattle, WA USA)
I do not believe this kills germs. I haven't had time to figure out a way to test the temp yet. Another reviewer said you need to lean into the Haan a bit. That's an understatement. It took major effort to get the dirt off my vinyl floors. I bought this because I have back and neck problems and don't want to hurt myself. It hurts. And, I still have to mop or get on my hands and knees because this thing does not fit under the edge of my kitchen or bathroom cabinets. When I try to get as close as possible, it bumps and scratches my maple cabinets.

Total waste of money.

I need a steam cleaner to clean my floors and kill germs with no chemicals. No way this does the job.

"Good product. Cleans well with little effort." 2010-01-12
By DJ (Colorado Springs, CO)
I read various other reviews before deciding on the Haan steam mop... Overall it feels sturdy and well built with 17 position adjustable metal handle that can be adjusted with just a push of of the button. great as my 1 and 3 year olds love to "help" clean the house after messing it up!

The selling points for this model over the others was the row of 15 multiple steam jets as opposed to a single port like the shark. The ultra microfiber pads which are thick and sturdy, seem to absorb moisture and pick up dirt very well, easy to push on multiple surfaces, easy on and off with velcro style attachments, no problems with washing them so far... I did buy a couple extra packs of pads as i use it daily with my kids and a wood laminate floor throughout a majority of the house. the pads have never left any wet "puddles" of standing water even after being left in one place for an extended period of time... excessive wetness was a noted problem with several other steamers. I feel a lot of consideration should be given to the quality and type of material used to make the cleaning pad as this it was is really doing all the work and takes the most abuse. Durability is a key issue for me...

I am able to fill mine with about 13oz of water. can do about 800sq ft depending on how dirty the kids have made the floor for me to clean. usually using just one cleaning pad.

I tested it as shown in the image for water temp. as water boils at lower temp at altitude, I would expect a high reading at sea level but I got about 194 F temp at multiple locations under the mop with or without the pad on... Haan claims 212+ F steam... However it still seems to clean very well at its current temp...

As for weight with a full tank of water using a digital luggage scale I get 5.1 lbs.

The Haan also has one of the lowest engery usages of any steamer at 800 Watts. it takes about 1 1/2-2 minutes to start steaming and steams constantly while on. No trigger to pump or hold...

I have not used the sanitizer tray for the carpets yet but will update if and when I do use it.

Negatives...

Really the only negatives I see with this are:

1. The power cord is to short.. however there is plenty of space where the cord stores on the steamer to add an extension cord and leave it permanently connected..

2. not that great for getting at the edges as the steam jets run in a strip across the center of the machine so the front and rear of the machine and pad don't get direct steam... Probably why it seems to hold dirt and water well. only the middle third of the pad from side to side is seeing direct steam and the other areas are scrubbing and absorbing. I will add a picture to illustrate..

3. Like just about every other steamer I would like it to hold more water... a gallon at a time would be nice...

 "Floormate is Tops" 2009-09-08
By Rosalie Le Clair (Hudson Valley NY)
I am absolutely thrilled with my purchase. I have a large country kitchen, hallways and bathroom with ceramic floors. This does a great job, I was surprised to see how dirty my "clean" floor was after I had mopped it with a large commercial mop and bucket! This Floormate does a great job cleaning, easy on the back, the areas smell "fresh clean" looks super when finished. The storage is no problem. This has been an excellent purchase. I have looked and checked into quite a few, so pleased I choose The Floormate Spinscrub 500. Eleanor Spears

 "I LOVE MY FLOORMATE" 2008-12-12
By Tamara Smith (Arizona)
I am a mother of 5 and have both wood and tile in my house. This has saved me so much time and is so easy my teenage daughters can do it. I love that it dries right away so my floors can stay clean LOL. My kids have always disliked cleaning the floors as their chores. (Now they beg for that chore, as it is so easy) If you have slate or uneven floors it doesnt work that well but if your floors are smooth they will soon be clean as well.

 "Broke after 1 year!" 2008-06-15
By DMAW (California)
I made the mistake of letting my mother keep my original Floormate. I had it for 4 years and she has had it for the last 2 years - and it is still going strong. I went to buy a new one when I moved across the country, only to find the original having been "improved". After 1 year with the 500, the suction completely gave out on me. I had it repaired. 8 months later, the same thing happened again. The quality on this new model is nowhere near what it was on the original. I have come to love the convenience of the Floormate, so I will be trying a different model. Hopefully that one will fare better than this one did.

 "Short lived convenience" 2008-04-09
By Travel Bug (Peachtree City GA)
I purchased this product a couple of years ago and used it for about a year. I recently disposed of it because it was taking up too much room in my closet since it stopped working. I have gone back to using my mop!

Theoretically it's a great idea - an appliance that vacuums and mops your floor! Practically here's what you do: you drag it out, plug it in, vacuum, clean out the receptacle of dirt, fill the reservoir with the cleaner, "mop" the floor, empty out the receptacle of dirty water, rinse it out and keep it for drying, rinse out the lint filter, and put it all away. With my mop here's what you do: You fill a bucket with water, get the mop out, mop the floor, rinse out the mop a couple of times, and put the mop away. Basically it's about the same amount of work except maybe you use a *little* more energy to mop.

But here's the main reason for my rating: after a year of use, water started to puddle on the floor and the unit lost it's mopping function which is what I used it for mainly. It just sat in my closet since I didn't want to mail the vacuum back to Hoover and pay shipping costs to fix it. I finally got rid of it last week

 "I've used 2" 2008-04-02

I sold floormates along with other cleaning tools for a couple of years but I wasn't able to see them in action.....so I relied on customer's reports. Some customers told me that this was an excellent product and I never had one returned. I finally gave in and purchased one a few months ago. It was easy to set up out of the box.

I have ceramic tile throughout the house. I also own a Flip-it and it did a terrible job and took forever to clean the large area. I tried the dry vac on the Floormate and I was shocked to see it pick all the dirt it came into contact with....as well as loose hairs instead of blowing them around. So I went over the entire floor very satisfied with that feature. Then I tried the wash feature. My pup had dirty paw prints all over the floor and I was looking forward to testing the Floormate on them. And again the unit prevailed and removed the dirt. And amazingly I did the entire floor never needing the wet/dry (wet pickup) feature, the floor was drying as I was washing....squeegee did an excellent job. So I poured water on the floor to test the wet vac and it picked it up immediately...once again pleased. The tank fills up just about the time I finish so there is no need for running back and forth to the sink. The floor was shiny and smelled clean.

Now the downside with MY unit.... there is none. But a friend purchased one and it isn't nearly as good as mine (where I dropped 1 star). I tried it out and the dry vac seemed similar to mine....but it didn't clean the floor as well and the wet/dry (wet pickup) feature still didn't dry the floor completely after washing....which was a function that I didn't really need on my Floormate. I tried to convince him to take it back because it's my assumption that it's a faulty unit but they kept it anyways. So there's my suggestion, if it doesn't seem to get the job done take it back...it could just be the unit.
